HAZARD MITIGATION

To provide funding support to states, Indian tribal governments, territories, communities, and other eligible applicants to reduce the risk of future damage, loss of life and property in any area affected by a major disaster. This program promotes implementation of activities designed to reduce injuries, loss of life, and damage and destruction to property from natural hazards which is consistent with DHS QHSR Goal 5.1, “Mitigate Hazards" and links to Presidential Policy Directive (PPD-8) - National Preparedness, Security, Resilience, Prevention, Mitigation, Response, Protection, and Recovery.

PUBLIC ASSISTANCE

To assist State and local governments in responding to and recovering from the devastating effects of disasters by providing assistance for debris removal, emergency protective measures and the repair, restoration, reconstruction or replacement of public facilities or infrastructure damaged or destroyed. 

INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE

FEMA's Individuals and Households Program (IHP) provides financial and direct services to eligible individuals and households affected by a disaster, who have uninsured or underinsured necessary expenses and serious needs.

FLOOD MITIGATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (FMA) (CFDA#: 97.029)

To assist States, Federally - recognized Indian tribal governments, and communities with the goal of reducing or eliminating claims under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). This program promotes implementation of activities designed to reduce injuries, loss of life, and damage and destruction to property from natural hazards which is consistent with DHS QHSR Goal 5.1, “Mitigate Hazards" and links to Presidential Policy Directive (PPD-8) - National Preparedness, Security, Resilience, Prevention, Mitigation, Response, Protection, and Recovery.​
